Innovation & Technology
Currently teaches Soft Robotics and Religious Robots at NYU ITP. Co-author of Make: Soft Robotics. Previously with Super-Releaser, a soft robotics Research, Development, and Design consultancy. Formerly with Final Frontier Design, I contributed as a technical expert on five NASA research contracts, served as a Test Director on microgravity flights with NRC-Canada, and prototyped aerospace and terrestrial products. FFD's flagship innovation is the 3G IVA spacesuit for commercial spaceflight. I would love to collaborate with other innovative teams.
Costumes & Puppets
With 20 years of costuming experience for stage and screen, I am interested in production at all levels. A proud moment for me was when my Spider-man costume for Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark was inducted into the Smithsonian collection. I am a member of IATSE Wardrobe Union Local 764, and am specifically seeking out more short-term union work on Broadway, tv, and film. Bringing inanimate objects to life was a natural extension of my professional explorations of motion. Two places I've particularly enjoyed working are The Jim Henson Company and Puppet Kitchen Productions.
Original work
My art practice centers fabrication, collaboration, and motion, and lives at the intersection of technology and craft. It examines and re-frames the false dichotomy between “women’s work” done in domestic spaces, and technological work done in laboratories. My process and finished work engage in the playful and the joyful, and invite the viewer to learn about and befriend the material world.
